Ukraine hits Russian oil depot in Smolensk region

(Reuters) – The Ukrainian military said on Tuesday its forces had hit a Russian oil depot in the Smolensk region.

Ukraine’s general staff said on Telegram that the depot was used for military purposes. It said there had been powerful explosions and tanks with oil products had caught fire.

Earlier, Smolensk governor Vasily Anokhin said debris from a a Ukrainian drone that had been shot down had caused a fuel spill and fire at an oil depot in the region, but that the situation was under control.
